Socorro County residents will soon be asked to vote to renew the current 4.25 mill levy on property taxes, which sustains critical health care services in the county.
Voting for the mill levy will not raise taxes. This vote continues the existing 4.25 mill levy that has supported Socorro General Hospital since 1980.
The mill levy helps Socorro General Hospital provide essential care, such as emergency medicine, community outreach programs and specialty services to thousands of Socorro County residents, regardless of their ability to pay.
Socorro General Hospital’s most recent investments in Socorro County’s health care include expanding technology through a new CT scanner and added echocardiogram and vascular ultrasound testing, as well as employing new clinicians in family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and emergency care.
